On the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the dangers to the civilian Armenian population
The people of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) are once again facing great difficulties, after the complete blockade (ground and air) imposed by Azerbaijan, with the connivance of the Russian “peacekeeping” forces. The Armenians of the region, who are deprived of food, medicine, and fuel supplies under the particularly difficult wintertime conditions, are facing serious problems of survival.
These dramatic developments are linked to the recent war in the Caucasus region that was waged in autumn as the aftermath of the major imperialist conflict in Ukraine facilitated the military crushing of the Armenians and the victory of the Azerbaijanis, who enjoyed full political-military support of Turkey, which “bargained” with the Russian leadership and achieved its connivance to these developments.
Behind all these developments, which are now being paid for by the Armenian people of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), lies the struggle of the bourgeoisie for raw materials, for commodity transport routes, for geopolitical pillars, for market shares; in two words, therein lies the capitalist mode of production.
The developments continue to attract other imperialist powers —like blood attracts sharks— such as the USA and the EU, which are involved in them anyway, but now they are given the opportunity to deepen their involvement in the strategically important Caucasus region.
The KKE condemns the blockade of the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh, the pursuit of their impoverishment and physical extermination.
We stand against the interests of the bourgeois classes and the plans of the imperialist powers, which massacre the peoples in wars, or exterminate them by “peaceful” means of poverty and misery.
We demand an end to the blockade of the region and we call on the working class and the peoples of the region, who are experiencing a lasting tragedy as a result of the counter-revolutionary overthrow of the socialist system, to organize their independent struggle against those class interests that divide them on the basis of language, religion or ethnic origin and to wage a joint struggle against the monopolies and capitalism, which, if not overthrown, will continue to massacre and exterminate them.
