Denounces the anti-communist provocation in Ukraine
The KKE delegation to the European Parliament denounces the ban on the candidacy of the First Secretary of the CC of the CP Ukraine, Petro Simonenko, by the Electoral Commission of the country, in its Question to the Parliament, in which it notes:
"The Ukrainian government and its Electoral Commission banned the candidacy of the First Secretary of the CC of the CP Ukraine, Peter Simonenko, for the presidential elections of 31 March, by applying the so-called law on "decommunization". According to the explanation of the Electoral Commission, individuals and parties that propagandize communism and national-socialism (!) and their symbols are forbidden to be nominated for the Presidency of Ukraine. This anti-communist law of course did not stop the Poroshenko government from establishing as a national holiday the birthday of the notorious criminal Stepan Bandera, Ukrainian collaborator of the Nazis and the SS, nor the participation of government leaders in "demonstrations" organized by neo-fascist groups.
Given that the reactionary Ukrainian government rose to power through a coup with the open intervention and support of the EU, the USA and NATO, along with fascist forces and continues to enjoy the multifaceted support of the EU, the High Representative asks: What position do you have on the banning of the candidacy of the First Secretary of the CC of the CP Ukraine, Petro Simonenko, and overall on the campaign and the persecutions that the Ukrainian government has unleashed against the communists, brutally trampling the democratic rights and freedoms of the people of Ukraine?
